Chapter 8 SCSI Commands
terminated with a CHECK CONDITION. The sense key is ILLEGAL
REQUEST and ASC/ASCQ is INVALID ELEMENT ADDRESS.
When the Invert bit is 1, the Transport Element is inverted and moved to the
specified element. Because the autoloader does not support the inversion
function, the Invert bit is always 0. If the Invert bit is set to a value other than 0,
the command is terminated with a CHECK CONDITION. The sense key is
ILLEGAL REQUEST and ASC/ASCQ is INVALID FIELD IN CDB.
8.9. PREVENT ALLOW MEDIUM REMOVAL Command (1Eh)
The PREVENT ALLOW MEDIUM REMOVAL command controls the ability
of the autoloader to eject a cartridge contained therein. This function is
independent from reservation. When cartridge ejection is inhibited, the
autoloader does not eject the cartridge when requested.
Table 8.9.1 : PREVENT ALLOW MEDIUM REMOVAL command
The inhibition of cartridge ejection is made valid when the host sets the Prevent
bit to 1 and issues the PREVENT ALLOW MEDIUM REMOVAL command.
Cartridge ejection inhibition is ended in the following cases:
a) From all hosts for which cartridge ejection was set, the PREVENT ALLOW
MEDIUM REMOVAL command is received with a Prevent bit of 0.
b) A BUS DEVICE RESET message is received from the host.
c) A hard reset (including the power cycle) occurs.
While the cartridge ejection inhibition is valid, the autoloader prevents the
operators from ejecting cartridges.
