Table 6-6: Supported Log Pages
Parameter Pointer:
The Parameter Pointer field allows the host to specify at which parameter within a log page the requested data
should begin.
For example if a page supported parameters 0 through 5, and the Parameter Pointer field contained 3 then only
parameters 3, 4 and 5 would be returned to the initiator. Similarly, if a page supported parameters 1, 3 and 6, and the
Parameter Pointer field contained 2, then only parameters 3 and 6 would be returned to the initiator.
Note that parameters within a page are always returned in ascending order according to parameter code. If an
invalid parameter pointer is sent the drive will return CHECK CONDITION with the sense key set to ILLEGAL
REQUEST and an additional sense code of INVALID FIELD IN CDB.
Allocation Length:
The Allocation Length field is used to inform the target how much space the initiator has allocated for data. There
must be sufficient space allocated for all the requested data. If there isn’t then the command will terminate with a
CHECK CONDITION status with the sense key set to ILLEGAL REQUEST and an additional sense code of
INVALID FIELD IN CDB. Note however that if this field is 0 then this is not considered an error and the device
will just return a GOOD status.
