Tested
Parameters
Vpp(low)
Peak to Peak ripple voltage (frequency band 16 Hz –
5K Hz)
0 to 500 mVpp
Optional Input
Controls
Shutdown
Description
Test powers up the PSE and measures the average DC and peak-to-peak AC (low frequency)
voltage after power-up at 2 power extremes. DC Voltage Vport is averaged over the 2 power
extremes and worst case AC Pk-Pk is selected from both power levels. May be used to assess 60
Hz ripple or impact of AC MPS signal on power rail. Low load used is 0 mA for AC MPS PSE’s and
12 mA for DC MPS. High load is 275 mA. User may request to have the test remove power upon
completion of the test.

Description
Test powers up the PSE and measures the peak-to-peak AC (high frequency) voltage after power-up
at 2 power extremes. Worst case AC Pk-Pk is selected from both power levels. Test may be used
to assess impact of switcher power supply noise. Low load used is 0 mA for AC MPS PSE’s and 12
mA for DC MPS. High load is 275 mA. User may request to have the test remove power upon
completion of the test.

Description
Test powers up the PSE and measures average power and port current. Default condition with no
user input is 50 mA of port current following a Class 0 power-up. User may specify EITHER the
current load following power-up or the target port power. This test can be primarily used as a means
to assure a port power-up to a specified power level. The acceptance criteria are Pass/Info since no
802.3af conformance aspects are strictly tested. User may request to have the test remove power
upon completion of the test.
