Triggered measurements must be accompanied by a means to resolve meter behavior if the trigger event never occurs.
The
Timeout
parameter is utilized to limit the time duration during which an armed measurement will wait until
deeming that the measurement cannot be successfully completed. PowerSync Analyzer meters offer a user selectable
timeout of either 10 seconds or 100 seconds. Every triggered measurement will report a
Trigger Status
of
“TIMEOUT” if the trigger event does not occur in the specified
Timeout
interval following the assertion of the
MEASURE
button. The
END
button can be used to force an immediate timeout of a measurement that may currently
be in the ARMED state. This is useful for
terminating measurements that may have
been configured with 100 second timeout.
The DC Meter menu also offers a
Wait
until complete
check-button. This
control, when activated, will serve to
automatically sample the measurement
status (or
Trigger Status
) until the
Trigger Status
reports “READY” (and a
Measured Value
is displayed, or until the
Trigger Status
reports “TIMEOUT”.
This is a convenience that allows for a
single button push of the
MEASURE
button to return triggered measurement
results.
Note that automatic sampling of
the measurement state machine can
interfere with the responsiveness of other
controls in PSA Interactive
.
3.1.10.
The O-Scope Display
When voltage or current traces are
specified, the actual waveform
captured will be displayed in a
pop-up window
(Figure 3.14)
that
emulates a single-shot
oscilloscope display. The display
will auto-scale to the level of the
signal (voltage or current) and to
the
Measurement Period
configured into the DC Meter.
Each trace consists of 256 samples
with a sampling interval of the
Measurement Period
divided by
256.
The
button on the o-scope
display may be utilized to send the
display to a printer and will pop
up a standard Windows dialog for routing to an available print device. The
DONE
button will close the window.
Users can also capture the trace to a file using the [ALT]
[Print Screen] keys from a Windows PC keyboard and pasting
the screen into a word processing or graphics file.
The EXCEL button on the O-scope display will cause a
Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet to automatically pop up (
Figure
3.15
) with a graph and table consisting of the same exact
waveform. The spreadsheet may then be analyzed or stored
to a file as designated by the user. Actual time and value
samples (and associated array indices) are visible within this
spreadsheet to the right side of the waveform graph.
The O-Scope display offers various color schemes. Section
3.1.14 below (Waveforms Menu) provides additional
information on setting waveform display color schemes.
