An Event Trigger can be generated coincident with any of the three load control operations,
Kill Load
,
Valid Load
,
and
Start Transient
. This will happen when the
Trigger Out
checkbox in the Load & Transient Control sub-menu is
selected.
PD Power-Up Emulation is can also be “armed” in the Load & Transient Control sub-menu. The
Arm PD Emul.
operation is equivalent to the
Apply PD Parms
control in the Load Configuration menu. This control pre-configures
the static and transient load resources to emulate the most recently selected PD classification (
see Section 3.1.7
) as well
as arming the transient to trigger on a power-up edge. As was the case in the Load Configuration menu, the
All Ports
checkbox allows PD Power-Up Emulation to be simultaneously configured and armed on all ports in the presently
connected PSA chassis.
The
Event Controls
panel also includes a
Status
monitoring capability to enable the user to track the status of the port
switch (“CONNECTED” or “ISOLATED”) and the test port LED indicator state. The
DET
LED indicates that
detection signature is in the guaranteed “valid” range and that the port switch is connected. The
PWR
LED indicates
that the test port is powered (i.e. DC voltage > 44 VDC). The
ARM
LED indicates that the trigger is armed in the test
port. LED status is generally queried following
Event Control
operations – it is not continuously polled.
Finally, an
Update
control is provided to update all displayed status information in the Event Control Panel. This will
update port connection status, LED statuses, and Trigger 1 configuration information. It can be invoked at any time.
3.1.12. AC
Meter
The
AC Meter
resource menu
(Figure 3.18)
provides a means for measuring ripple and noise on the PoE bus primarily.
There are two configuration settings for the peak AC voltage meter.
Frequency Band
specifies the
frequency range over which an AC
peak-to-peak measurement will be
performed. The
Low Band
selection captures AC voltages in
the 16Hz to 5KHz region while the
High Band
captures signals in the 5
KHz to 250 KHz region. The
Low
Band
offers 4 Vpp full-scale with 4
mV resolution and is useful for
assessing ripple and AC MPS
signaling amplitude. The
High
Band
offers 1 Vpp full scale, 1 mV
resolution, and should pick up
switching noise and any impact
from data signals transmitted on the
same line.
Measurement Period
, much like
with the
DC Meter
, determines the
time interval over which sampling
for the peak-to-peak voltage amplitude is performed.
Measurement Period
may range from 10 mSec to 5 seconds
with the same available steps as the
DC Meter
.
AC voltage measurements are immediately initiated by the
MEASURE
button. They do not support other triggered
modes and there is no need to provide trigger status.
The
AC Voltage Meter
menu offers equivalent capabilities to direct configuration to a particular slot, port, and chassis.
The
Copy Settings
option will duplicate the configuration of the
AC Voltage Meter
across user-selected ports.
Apply
Settings
will update the meter configuration and
Read Settings
will return the current slot-port settings for this meter.
