ALT and Polarity must be properly configured. If the PSE port fails to power for any reason, PSA Interactive will
notify the user of this and reset the
PD Target Power
to the default level for the selected PD Class.
If a default power target is accepted after selecting a PD Class, then a default load current value will be used for the
steady-state power-on current and the
approximate
power targets for each PD Class will be:
•
Class 0:
7.0 W
•
Class 1:
2.2 W
•
Class 2:
5.4 W
•
Class 3:
10.1 W
•
Class 4:
18.7 W
Once the
ARM PD Emul.
button is pressed, users may modify the classification load current value in advance of the
power-up event by updating the static load setting and then pressing
Apply Load
before enabling detection (via the port
switch). The power-up currents and inrush timing can also be modified at this point
(Figure 3.10)
by changing the
corresponding transient load entry and pressing
Initiate Transients
.
PD Power-Up Emulation may be configured to all of the ports in the connected PSA chassis by selecting the
All Ports
checkbox prior to pressing
ARM PD Emul
. This is a convenient way to arm all of the test ports in the PSA chassis to
simultaneously emulate PD’s when ports are connected. The
Port Configuration Menu
and the
Event Control Panel
(
see Section 3.1.11
) then both offer means to simultaneously connect all ports in the PSA chassis.
3.1.8. DC
Meters
The
DC Meters
menu
(Figure 3.11)
provides access to a highly
configurable metering resource.
There are 3 measurement categories
available:
DC Voltage
,
DC Current
,
and
DC Power
.
DC Voltage
measures the PoE bus voltage with a
range of 0 – 64 VDC and a resolution
of 100 mV.
DC Current
monitors
the
actual
DC load current with a
range of 0 – 511 mA and a resolution
of 0.5 mA.
DC Power
simply
combines a Voltage and Current
measurement to return power in Watts
with .1 W resolution.
Two of these meters,
DC Voltage
and
DC Current
, operate in one of 4
modes:
Average
,
Max Peak
,
Min
Peak
, and
Trace
. (
DC Power
operates only in
Average
mode.) In
Average
mode, the meter will produce the average value of the requested parameter (voltage, current, or power) over
the
Measurement Period
that is entered from the scrolled list below. In
Max Peak
mode, the maximum sampled
value of voltage or current over the specified
Measurement Period
will be provided. Conversely, in the
Min Peak
mode, the minimum sampled value over the
Measurement Period
will be displayed. The
Trace
mode will
automatically pop up PSA Interactive’s oscilloscope display window and present a captured voltage or current
waveform sampled over the
Measurement Period
.
The
Measurement Period
can range from 10 mSec (“10m”) to 10 seconds. (
Note: The maximum Measurement Period
was extended from 5 seconds to 10 seconds as of PSA Test Blade firmware version 1.59
.) Much like a typical
oscilloscope, it must have a 1-2-5 value. The
Measurement Period
represents a time aperture or “window” that opens
as soon as the measurement is triggered.
Voltage and current measurements may be triggered in one of three ways:
Immediate
,
Waveform
(or Trigger 1), and
Event
(or External) trigger.
DC Power
measurements are only performed from an
Immediate
trigger. Triggering
defines exactly when the Measurement Period will begin and is discussed in detail in Section 3.1.9 below.
