Construction and method of operation
Standard mounting position in operation: Longitudinal angle (low or high position) to ± 15°,
constant transverse angle 10°. To ensure adequate lubrication here, a motor pump is normally
required.
For the current fitting position and maximum inclined positions, see the dimensioned drawing.
5.2.1
Bevelhelical planetary gear unit
The bevelhelical planetary gear unit essentially comprises a planet stage, two helical gear stages, a bevel
gear stage and a hollowtype output shaft with shrink disk.
The gear units are characterised by a low noise level, achieved by ground helical gears with a high contact
ratio.
5.2.1.1 Housing
The multisection gearunit housing is of welded steel. The housing is of a rigid design and due to its form
has excellent noise and temperature characteristics.
A singlesided torque reaction arm is mounted on the housing. The drive motor can be fastened to the
housing with a motor bracket.
The housing is provided with adequately dimensioned lifting holes and inspection and assembly covers.
It is also fitted with an oil dipstick for checking the oil level, two drain plugs and a breather screw for venting
the housing.

5.2.1.2 Toothed components
The externally toothed components of the gear unit are casehardened and ground. The teeth of the
internally toothed helical gear are internally hobbed or shaped. The high quality of the teeth leads to
a significant noise reduction and ensures safe and reliable running.
5.2.1.3 Lubrication
The teeth and rolling bearings of the gear units are adequately supplied with oil by splash and pressure
lubrication. The gear unit thus requires very little maintenance.
For safety reasons, the gear unit is supplied without oil filling for transport.
5.2.1.4 Shaft bearings
All shafts are mounted in rolling bearings.
5.2.1.5 Shaft seals
Radial shaftsealing rings at the shaft outlets prevent oil from escaping from the housing and dirt from
entering it. Additionally fitted to the highspeed input shaft and the output shaft of the planetary helical gear
unit are labyrinth seals which can be refilled with lubricant.
