Filling with lubricant
•
Undo the fastening screws of the inspection cover and remove the inspection cover from the housing.
Fill the gear unit with fresh oil, using a filter (max. mesh 25 μm).
The quality of the oil used must meet the requirements of the separately enclosed BA 7300
operating instructions, otherwise the guarantee given by Siemens will lapse. We urgently
recommend using one of the oils listed in BA 7300, because they have been tested and meet
the requirements.
Information on the type, quantity and viscosity of the oil is given on the rating plate on the gear
unit.
The quantity of oil indicated on the rating plate is an approximation only. The actual oil quantity
to be put in is shown by the marks on the oil sight glass, on the angular oil level indicator or on
the oil dipstick.
In case of gear units with motordriven oil pump the oil circulation system should be filled
additionally.
For this the operating instructions for the motordriven oil pump must be observed.
•
The oil level at the oil dipstick marking must be checked with the input and output shafts in a horizontal
position.
The oil level must be up to the upper mark on the oil dipstick.
Remove any oil spillage immediately with an oilbinding agent.
The oil must not come into contact with the skin (e.g. the operator’s hands).
The safety notes on the data sheets for the oil used must be observed here!
•
Place seal on sealing surface.
•
Close inspection hole with inspection cover.
7.3
Startup
•
Check the oil level in the gearunit housing with the oil dipstick.
When the oil has cooled down, the oil level should be up to the mark on the dipstick.
If necessary, the oil must be topped up.
Check oil filling of the motordriven oilpump and switch the unit on.
For this the operating instructions for the motordriven oil pump must be observed.
The unit must under no circumstances be started before the motordriven oil pump
at the earliest after 10 minutes and the control equipment have been started.
In the case of gear units with auxiliary drive it must be ensured before switching on the
main motor, that the auxiliary drive is not coupled to the unit.
