Cause: Output signal invalid due to fault in the field device or in the peripherals.
Action: Maintenance is required immediately.
Manual operation

Cause: Output signal temporarily invalid (e.g. frozen) due to work being performed on the device.
Action: Disable manual mode via HMI or engineering system.
Process value alarm

Cause: Deviations from permissible ambient or process conditions detected by the device (through self-
monitoring, or warnings / faults in the device) indicate that the measured value is unreliable or deviations
from the set value in the actuators is most likely greater than anticipated under normal operating con‐
ditions. Process or ambient conditions will damage the device or result in unreliable output.
Action: Check ambient temperature or process conditions. If possible, install device at different location.
