Table 4: Configuration of output Q3
Wiring of I2
Function of Q3
Description
Low (not con‐
nected)
Connection of an indicator lamp
Output Q3 responds like the
LED RES REQ (pulsating with 1 Hz or
with 2 Hz)
High (24 V DC)
Connection to a higher-level control
Output Q3 goes to High steadily with
RES REQ
DANGER
Evaluate application diagnostic outputs Y1 and Y2!
If output Q3 is configured for the connection to a higher-level control (input I2 = high),
then the higher-level control absolutely must evaluate application diagnostic outputs Y1
and Y2. Otherwise, discrepancy errors may not be detected.
Operating mode with two sensor pairs – sensor pair A and sensor pair B
If both sensor pair A (I5/I6) as well as sensor pair B (I7/I8) are used, I1 may not be
connected. LED I1 is continuously off in this case.
In the operating mode with two sensor pairs, sensor pair A is coupled to application
diagnostic output Y1 and sensor pair B to application diagnostic output Y2. If an object
is detected at one sensor pair, its application diagnostic output is always low. If an
object is not detected at one sensor pair, its application diagnostic output is always
high.
Safety outputs Q1 and Q2 and output Q3 of the UE410-SD respond as follows in this
operating mode depending on the two sensor pairs:
•
As long as an object is detected during current operation at both sensor pairs,
safety outputs Q1 and Q2 are high and LED Q1/2 lights up. Output Q3 is low.
•
If an object is no longer detected during current operation at at least one sensor
pair, then both safety outputs Q1 and Q2 are immediately switched off (low) and
LED Q1/2 goes out.
•
If an object is then detected again at both sensor pairs (both application diagnos‐
tic outputs Y1 and Y2 are low), the UE410-SD enters the state
reset required
. The
LED RES REQ flashes at 1 Hz and output Q3 goes to high or pulses synchronously
with the LED RES REQ, depending on its configuration.
In this case, the device can be reset with a reset pushbutton connected at I4.
Safety outputs Q1 and Q2 go to high, LED Q1/2 lights up and output Q3 goes back
to low.
Operating mode with one sensor pair – sensor pair A
If only sensor pair A (I5/I6) is used, then I1 must be connected to U
B
. LED I1 lights up
continuously in this case.
In this operating mode, sensor pair A is coupled with application diagnostic output Y1. If
an object is detected at sensor pair A, the application diagnostic output Y1 is always
low. If an object is not detected, application diagnostic output Y1 is always high. Appli‐
cation diagnostic output Y2 is always low in this operating mode.
Safety outputs Q1 and Q2 and output Q3 of the UE410-SD respond as follows in this
operating mode depending on sensor pair A:
•
As long as an object is detected during current operation at sensor pair A, safety
outputs Q1 and Q2 are high and LED Q1/2 lights up. Output Q3 is low.
•
If an object is no longer detected during current operation at sensor pair A, then
both safety outputs Q1 and Q2 are immediately switched off (low) and LED Q1/2
goes out.
