NOTE
Voltage supply and overvoltage protection
•
The SICK safety evaluation module must be supplied by a SELV/PELV power supply
unit.
•
In order to protect the sensors effectively against overvoltage on the supply cable,
the connection of the +24 V supply voltage for the sensors to output U
OUT
of the
SICK UE410-SD safety evaluation module is urgently recommended.
•
The UE410-SD safety evaluation module fulfills EMC stipulations in accordance
with generic standard EN61000-6-2 for the industrial sector and EN61131-2 for
control systems.
•
The control cabinet or the mounting housing for the UE410-SD must fulfill an
enclosure rating of at least IP54.
•
The UE410-SD corresponds to classA, group1 in accordance with EN55011.
Group1 encompasses all ISM devices in which intentionally generated and/or
used conductor-bound RF energy that is required for the inner function of the
device itself occurs.
•
Mounting in accordance with EN50274
•
For EMC safety, you must connect the DIN mounting rail to FE.
•
The UE410-SD, the Safeguard Detector sensors and the connected protective
devices must be connected to the same GND connection.
•
In order to fulfill the requirements of the relevant product standards, the external
voltage supply of the devices (SELV) must be able to bypass events, including a
power outage of 20ms. Suitable power supply units are available as accessories
from SICK.
•
The voltage supply and all connected signals must meet the requirements for
extra-low voltages with safe separation (SELV, PELV) as specified in EN60664 and
EN50178 (Electronic equipment for use in power installations) or NECClass2 in
accordance with UL1310.
•
External protective elements must be used when installing the device in overvolt‐
age category III environments. The required protection level as per EN62305-1 can
be achieved by means of an external suppressor. The protective elements used
(SPD – surge protective devices) must meet the requirements in accordance with
EN61643-11.
Prevention of cross-circuits by separate cabling
•
A cross-circuit between the cables of the sensor to the SICK safety evaluation
module may not be detected by the SICK safety evaluation module in some cir‐
cumstances and must therefore be prevented by suitable measures when laying or
selecting cables.
•
The lines of a connected reset pushbutton must be in separate plastic-sheathed
cables.
•
All connected control switches and subsequent control systems, as well as wiring
and routing, must meet the required category in accordance with ENISO13849-1
and the SILCL in accordance with EN62061 (suchas protected routing, individual
plastic-sheathed cables with shield, etc.).
•
To protect the safety outputs and increase the service life, the external loads must
be equipped with varistors or RC circuits, for example. It should be noted that the
response times may be extended depending on the type of suppressor.
•
Single-channel safety outputs and the external device monitoring (EDM) must be
wired within the control cabinet.
