7.3.3 Reference
Electrode
CAUTION: REFERENCE ELECTRODE MUST REMAIN IN REFERENCE ELECTRODE
RESERVOIR AT ALL TIMES DURING THE OPERATION OF THE Cl1000. REMOVAL OF
THE REFERENCE ELECTRODE FROM THE RESERVOIR DURING OPERATION MAY
CAUSE ERRONEOUS READING AND LEAD TO EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
.
a.
Electrode storage when the analyser is not in operation and is powered off.
1.
The reference electrode (Refer to Figures 1 and 2) may be stored in air for
periods of up to one (1) hour.
2.
For short time periods (up to one week), the reference electrode should ideally
be stored in a 1M KCl solution but can be stored in tap water. Otherwise store
as for long term storage below.
3.
For long periods of time (over one week), rinse the electrode with de-ionised
water and place the soaker teat (containing a small quantity of saturated KCl
solution) back onto the end of the reference electrode (to prevent drying out).
b. Maintenance
1.
Disassembly is not required or recommended.
2.
Annual replacement of the reference electrode is required.
