7 SERVICE
7.1 Overview
Capital Controls

Cl1000B Residual Analysers are designed to be as maintenance-free as possible.
The inherent product design reduces the amount of maintenance required to only monthly calibration
checks and flushing of the sample cell and analyser wet-end, and annual servicing. There are,
however, key aspects of the operation of the Cl1000B which should be clearly understood to optimize
the performance of the analyser.
If followed correctly, the recommendations in this section will prolong the life and enhance the
performance of the analyser, thus reducing long-term operating costs.
Service can be divided into three categories: cleaning, equipment service, and preventative
maintenance. Review the sections below for descriptions of the frequency and requirements for these
three categories.
A service kit is available (Severn Trent Services part number SK105-D or 10-1025). This kit contains
the copper electrode and various O rings and PVC spheres (see section 7.2 and 7.3).
Servicing should only be performed by appropriately qualified technicians or engineers. We recommend
that training be provided by Severn Trent Services, Service Technicians.
All of the service procedures below can and should ideally be performed by trained personnel. The
procedures require no special tools and are not time-consuming.
7.2 Cleaning
Frequency of cleaning the analyser is greatly affected by the condition of the water. Determine the
need for cleaning by visual inspection for debris build-up. The following should be cleaned as
indicated:
7.2.1
The sample inlet chamber and drain (Figure 2) should be cleaned and flushed when debris
build-up is observed. Flush parts with water stream until clean.
7.2.2
If the analyser is clogged to the point that little or no sample is flowing out of the sample drain,
the analyser must be flushed. A pipe cleaner may be used to remove debris from all sample
flow ports. Proceed as follows (Refer to Figures 2 and 4):
a.
Turn the power switch to the OFF position.
b.
Remove the sample flush plug (Figure 2) with the sample flowing, and allow to drain.
c.
Flush out all debris within the analyser wet-end. Use a pipe cleaner as necessary on
sample flow ports.
d.
Re-install sample flush plug.
e.
Turn the power switch to the ON position and resume operation.
