Recommended Preventative Maintenance Schedule
7.4.1 Monthly
a.
Flush the sample cell and the wet-end of the analyser by momentarily removing the
sample flush plug (Refer to Figures 2 and 4; 3).
b.
Check the calibration of the analyser by independently measuring the incoming sample
and noting the residual reading at the time of the sample removal. In some
applications, more frequent calibration may be required.
c.
If the reading on the analyser does not match the measured sample, re-calibrate the
analyser per section 3.4.

a.
Depending on the incoming sample conditions, disassemble the analyser by turning off
the incoming sample, removing power to the analyser and removing the sample cell
assembly (Refer to Figure 3).
b.
The gold electrode (figure 3) can be cleaned and polished with a clean cloth, or may be
soaked in a dilute acid solution (e.g. 10% HCl v/v). See section 7.3.
c.
The copper electrode may be cleaned with a non-metallic scouring pad. The copper
cell may be soaked in a dilute acid solution (e.g. 10% HCl v/v) both before and after
abrasion to maximise the cleaning and performance of the cell. See section 7.3.
d.
Replace copper cell if worn or grooved. It is recommended that the copper electrode
be replaced annually.
f.
Replace PVC cleaning spheres (Figure 3) (Severn Trent Services part number R-5941
or 35-1006).
g.
Replace the reference electrode (Figures 1 and 2) (Severn Trent Services part number
77-1006)
g.
After cleaning, condition the analyser by allowing it to run on chlorinated water for 24
hours.
h.
Calibrate the analyser as per Section 3.4.
