1d.
Any build-up on the copper cell (Figure 3) can be removed with a plastic
scouring pad or similar mild abrasive. The copper cell can be soaked in a dilute
acid solution (e.g., 10% HCl v/v) both before and after abrasion to maximize
the cleaning and performance of the electrode.
1e.
If the copper cell is grooved or cannot be cleaned, remove and replace.
(Severn Trent Services part number 14182 or 09-1032) (Figure 3).
1f.
Replace the PVC spheres and reassemble the cell by reversing steps 1a
through 1c. Ensure that none of the PVC spheres are on the top of the center
of the agitator.
i.
Motor/Striker Assembly
1a.
With the analyser cell assembly on a bench top, draw a line on the side of the
cell body and motor to note orientation, then remove two (2) screws on top of
the analyzer cell (Figure 3).
CAUTION: THE ANALYSER CELL ASSEMBLY CONTAINS 100 x 3/16" PVC
SPHERES. WHEN TAKING APART THE ANALYSER CELL, BE SURE TO
CAPTURE AND SAVE THE SPHERES FOR REASSEMBLY OF THE CELL.
1b.
Invert cell assembly so that the motor is facing downward.
1c.
Gently pull apart the top and bottom of the analyser cell assembly. Be sure to
capture the PVC spheres inside the assembly.
1d.
Inspect the motor/striker assembly (Figure 3). If damaged, replace the entire
assembly (Severn Trent Services part number 14181).
1e.
Review marks from step 1a, and reassemble the cell by reversing steps 1a
through 1c. Ensure that no PVC spheres are trapped under the agitator.
j.
After servicing the gold electrode, copper cell, or motor/striker assembly, replace
analyser cell assembly on the Cl1000B flow cell body (Figure 4; 4) by reversing steps
7.3.1.a through 7.3.1.f.
