5-2 Getting going with the PIM-3

4. To verify that the unit is operating, it is suggested

that the PIM-3 be placed in the "Continuous Transmit"
mode, so that data are being constantly displayed. Type

#19WI1

followed by a carriage return.

Data should now be displayed continuously as PIM-3

transmits the signals it detects.

5. Since communication has now been established,

the baud rate could be changed, and other operating
parameters set up as desired. Remember to alter the
baud rate of the terminal or the computer's serial output if
you change the PIM-3's baud rate!

6. It is often desired that the PIM-3 be used to auto-

matically detect the exceeding of a limit. Chapter 12,
"Understanding Limits" describes limit setup and opera-
tion. Command

will report limit status. Command

will enable any violation of a limit to cause a transmission
of the violating variable. The

command will toggle this

feature on or off.
