3.2 Partially suitable materials
• Stoneware and ceramic
Clay pots shall only be used for defrosting and for short cooking periods. Due to the air-
and water content one should avoid longer cooking times to prevent cracks in the clay.
• Chinaware with gold- or silver applications
Should only be used if it has the labelling ‘Suitable for microwaves’.
• Aluminium foil
Use aluminium foil only in small quantities, for example to cover sensitive pieces. Also
you can use aluminium foil to cover the edges of containers in order to avoid over-
heating as microwave energy concentrates in particular on edges. Keep a distance of
minimum 2.5 cm between foil and interior wall.
