and manufacture consumer products with the safety of you, our valued
customer, foremost in mind. In addition we ask that you exercise a degree
of care when using any electrical appliance and adhere to the following
precautions.

REFERENCE
• Remove any packaging material and promotional labels before using the
Sage Oracle for the first time.
• To avoid choking hazard for young children, remove and safely dispose
the protective cover fitted on the power plug.
• Do not attempt to operate the Sage Oracle by any method other than that
it is intended and described in this booklet.
• Before using for the first time please ensure that your electricity supply is
the same as shown on the rating label on the underside of the appliance.
If you have any concerns please contact your local electricity company.
• Do not place Sage Oracle near the edge of a bench or table during
operation. Ensure the surface is level, clean and free of water.
• Any significant spillage onto the surface under or around the appliance,
or onto the appliance itself, should be cleaned and dried before
continuing to use the appliance.
• Do not place this appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner,
or where it could touch a heated oven.
• Do not operate the Sage Oracle on a sink drain board.
• Always make sure the Sage Oracle is properly assembled before use.
The appliance will not operate unless properly assembled.
Refer to assembly.
• To protect against electric shock do not immerse grinder base, power
cord or power plug in water or allow moisture to come in contact with
these parts.
• Always ensure the Sage Oracle is turned OFF at the power outlet and
unplug the cord Sage Oracle if to be left unattended, not in use, before
cleaning, before attempting to move, disassembling, assembling and
when storing.
• Do not use any other liquid apart from cold mains/town water. We do
not recommend the use of highly filtered, de-mineralised or distilled water.
• Use caution, the appliance produces hot water & steam after milk
texturing when steam wand is lowered and when de-scaling. Ensure drip
tray is empty and inserted.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Allow product to cool down before moving
or cleaning parts.
• Do not operate the espresso machine without the hopper lid in position.
Keep fingers, hands, hair, clothing and utensils away from the hopper
during operation.
• Keep the appliance clean.
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS FOR ALL ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES
• Unwind power cord fully before use.
• Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of a table, counter, touch
hot surfaces or become knotted.
• This appliance is for household use only. Do not use this appliance for
anything other than its intended use. Misuse may cause injury.
• In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cut
out this appliance must not be supplied through an external switching
device such as a timer, separate remote control or connected to a circuit
that it regularly switched on and off by the utility.
• Children shall not play with the appliance.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities, lack of experience and knowledge,
or children unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Keep the appliance and its cord out of the reach of children.
• Do not use the appliance if power cord, power plug or appliance
becomes damaged in any way.
The symbol shown indicates that this appliance should not
be disposed of in normal household waste. It should be taken
to a local authority waste collection centre designated for
this purpose or to a dealer providing this service. For more
information, please contact your local council office.
BEFORE FIRST USE
MACHINE PREPARATION
Remove the water tank located at the back of the machine by lifting the
water tank handle. Clean parts using warm water and a gentle dish washing
liquid, then rinse and dry thoroughly. Wipe the outer housing, bean hopper
and drip tray with a soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
TIP
UNLOCK the swivel foot to lift the machine upwards in order to make it
easier to access the removable water tank or reposition the machine to
another location.
OPERATION
FIRST USE
1. Ensure tank is filled with fresh cold water. Push to open the water on
the top or remove tank at the back of the machine.
2. Press POWER button to turn machine on.
3. The main LCD will display ‘Hrd3’, prompting you to set the water
hardness level. Programming this will determine the regularity of the
‘DESCALE’ and ‘CHANGE FILTER’ alerts.
NOTE
Do not use highly filtered, demineralised or distilled water in this machine.
This may affect the taste of the coffee and how the machine operates.
SETTING WATER HARDNESS
1. Remove the supplied water hardness test strip from the wrapper.
2. Dip the test strip into a sample of the water you have filled the tank
with. Wait for one minute. The water hardness setting is indicated by
the number of red squares displayed on the test strip eg. 3 red squares
indicate a water hardness setting of 3.
3. Rotate SELECT dial to the required setting from ‘Hrd1’ (softest water)
to ‘Hrd5’ (hardest water). Press SELECT dial to set. Machine will beep
once to confirm selection.
4. A pumping/vibrating sound will be heard indicating empty boilers are
being filled with water for the first time. The main LCD will display the
current boiler temperature and flash ‘HEATING’.
5. Once at default operating temperature 93°C , all 6 buttons will
illuminate. The machine is now in STANDBY mode.
