System interconnection overview

The R5 Navigation System can be set up in a number of different ways.

As a standalone navigation system

One CDU unit, one sensor, one antenna, optional nav junction box

As a Combined Navigation and AIS system

Same as above, plus a transponder with additional GPS and VHF antennas

and an AIS junction box.

As multiple redundant navigation systems

Several instances of the standalone nav system connected to the same

network, configured to synchronize navigation data.

One system with extra Navigation display in view only mode (Master-Slave Mode)

On instance of the standalone system, plus an additional CDU connected to

the same network.

See Chapter 12
