Engine thermostat
The thermostat is sited on the top of the engine. It is a
wax-filled thermostat and is designed to open at 50°C
(122°F) and fully open at 60°C (140°F).
A faulty thermostat will result in either the engine
overheating as the thermostat remains closed or the
engine will not reach its correct operating temperature
and remain cold due to the thermostat being permanently
open.
Pressure control valve (PCV)
The pressure control valve is on the side of the
water jacket, just below the temperature sensor. Its
purpose is to relieve excess water pressure prior to the
thermostat opening.
