Air induction system
The air induction system consists of a throttle valve (there
are four throttle valves on the F115 (OE 26) outboard), a
throttle position sensor (TPS), an intake air temperature
sensor, an air pressure sensor and an idle speed controller
(ISC). The ISC controls the engine idle speed.

Once the boat has re-righted itself, there is a 20 second
delay for the throttle valve(s) to open. This allows any
water in the system to drain out, preventing the risk of
water entering the inlet manifold.
Ecapsize testing
The capsize functionality can be tested by pressing the
Ecapsize button (item 9, page 74) for more than 10
seconds until an audible tone is heard. If the system is
functioning correctly, the throttle valve(s) will close for
20 seconds. This test should be conducted every month
by the mechanic.

Capsize modification
This system incorporates a modification installed at
the Inshore Lifeboat Centre (ILC). The intake has been
redesigned on both the F115 (OE 26) and F115A (OE 33)
engines to give them capsize capability. The engines can
be inverted without flooding the air induction system
with water.
The unit consists of a mushroom valve that is closed by a
solid state switch should the engine become inverted. As
there is residual low pressure in the intake once the engine
stops, there is a 0.75 second delay on the operation of the
valve to prevent it being drawn open again.
