Day/night palette and brightness
To change the day palette to night, go to control options
and select the NIGHT/DAY PALETTE toggle button. It
will automatically adjust the display brilliance between
two pre-set levels. The legend on the button will be the
opposite of the display brilliance setting that has been
selected. There is also a dial to turn down the screen
brightness shown below.
Radar
As already explained, the radar on the Atlantic 85 is
operated within SIMS. The radar has three main functions,
to aid in collision avoidance, to assist in navigation and to
aid casualty locating.
WARNING
As with any modern radar, the hazards are minimal
but do consist of radiation and high voltages,
present in the rotating scanner and the usual
precautions need to be adhered to.
Shut down of RNLI SIMS
The system should be shutdown in a controlled manner
via the shutdown page. This ensures that the chart system
shuts down cleanly and any updates are applied. The
system must also be shutdown in a controlled manner via
the shutdown page after a chart or licence update. A three
stage on screen operation is utilised to avoid inadvertent
shut down.
The procedure is as follows:
• Click on SHUTDOWN.
• Click on PREPARE BOAT FOR RECOVERY TO
BOATHOUSE. If any parameters are automatically
reconfigured to shutdown status, RNLI SIMS will display
a list of them.
• Click on OK. RNLI SIMS will now conduct the shutdown
process. All work stations will close down.
