Activity 3 - Launch and Recovery
Carriage and winch
• Drive on and reverse off system.
• Restricted to one launch and recovery site.
• Requires a minimum of two shore crew and one
plant operator.
Lorry with mobile crane
• Easy transportation to alternative launch sites and/or
recovery sites.
• Crew board Atlantic via sea wall.
• Minimum of four shore crew required.

Hydrohoist
• Normally used within sheltered waters/harbours.
• Drive on / Reverse off recovery system.
• Reduces the need for antifouling.
• Quick and efficient launch and recovery system.
• Requires boat cover to protect from the elements.

station’s type of carriage.
SOP
Bedstead
• Drive on and reverse off system.
• Used for sheltered launch sites.
• Suitable for slipways.
• Can be launched using a launch vehicle or fixed plant.
