B Class Atlantic 85 Manual – First Issue, June 2017
Activity 11 - Unplanned Maintenance
• Defective propeller bush.
This damaged propeller bush would cause the propeller
to slip on the spline shaft, reducing handling and
manoeuvrability. The most accurate way to identify this
fault would be to perform a single engine running of the
boat. Set one engine to maximum revs (5500rpm), if the
speed of the boat is less than 20 knots (there may also be
some vibration), you have a clear indication that you may
have a damaged propeller bush. Make sure you do this test
for both engines.
• Damaged throttle cable.
A bent or snapped throttle cable will cause lack of control
of the engine.
• Poor battery charging
– check the tightness and condition of battery leads
– check for polyswitch indication
– check SIMS for Amp reading
– check shore charger.
NOTE
All faults outside of those detailed in this manual
must be rectified by a Systems Technician due to the
complexity of the Yamaha F115 outboard engines.
