Remove the gear coupling access plug and rotate the pinion to line up the clamp screw
with the access hole.
Loosen the gear coupling with a 5 mm Allen wrench.
Remove the four mount bolts connecting the motor to the gearbox.
Slide the motor off of the gearbox.
While the motor and gearbox is out of the machine, it would be a good idea to also
replace the pinion gear. Refer to the Section 3.19.3 Pinion Gear Replacement.
3.19.3
Pinion Gear Replacement
To replace the pinion gear, the motor and gearbox must be removed first.
(Y-axis only) remove the four bolts/nuts that secure
the gearbox mount, remove the mounting plate.
Using an Allan wrench, remove the pinion gear bolt
and washer.
Remove the pinion gear using a gear puller.
Reinstall the new pinion gear and (Y-axis) gearbox mounting plate using the reverse
procedure. The new gear can be tapped onto the shaft using a dead blow hammer or
a block of wood. Be careful not to damage the gear, shaft or motor.
