3.17.4 Spindle Sensor Adjustments
Adjusting sensor S1 – Tool Clamped
1. Manually insert a tool into the spindle chuck.
2. View the F-Test
([ALT-F1])
Inputs Tab – Tool Clamped signal, this input should be “ON”. (See
Figure 2 below)
3. If the Tool Clamped input is “OFF”, loosen the sensor retention screw and rotate the sensor
S1 slowly until the input turns “ON”
4. Rotate the sensor S1 until the input turns “OFF” and stop.
5. Rotate the sensor S1 back about 15

, the input should be “ON”.
6. Tighten the sensor retention screw.
7. Manually clamp a tool into the spindle chuck 10 - 12 times, observe the inputs to insure
proper feedback.
8. Reassemble the spindle and return the machine to operating condition.
Note: If a Tool Clamped feedback cannot be obtained, even with a full rotation of the eccentric
bushing, the sensor S1 or S5 could be defective. S5 and S1 are in series, a failure of either sensor
could hinder a Spindle Clamped feedback.
Adjusting sensor S2 – Tool Ejected
1. View the F-Test – Inputs tab ([ALT-F1]) (See Figure 3 below)
2. Press the Tool Eject button on the front of the spindle covers.
3. Observe the inputs “Tool Chuck Release Button” and “Tool in Spindle Ejected”.
a. The “Tool Chuck Release Button” input should turn on first, followed by the “Tool in
Spindle Ejected” input.
4. If a “Tool in Spindle Ejected” feedback is not shown, loosen the retention screw for sensor S2
and rotate the eccentric bushing slightly and repeat step 3 until a feedback is received.
5. Once a feedback of “Tool in Spindle Ejected” is received, tighten the sensor S2 retention
screw.
6. Manually clamp a tool into the spindle chuck 10 - 12 times, observe the inputs to insure
proper feedback.
7. Reassemble the spindle and return the machine to operating condition.
