Fig. 2-10: Random access procedure
The minimum AICH transmission timing can be configured as part of the AICH set-
tings, see
chapter 2.4.9, "Physical Channel DL Settings"
on page 154. For configura-
tion of the other parameters related to the random access procedure see
ter 2.4.10.3, "PRACH Settings"
Initial preamble power
According to 3GPP TS 25.331, the UE calculates the power of the first preamble of a
preamble cycle using the following formula:
P = Minimum(<Max. allowed UE Power>, <UL Interference> + <Constant Offset
Value> + <Signaled P-CPICH Level> – <CPICH_RSCP>)
with the following parameters:
●
<Maximum allowed UE Power>, <UL interference>, <Constant Offset Value>,
<Signaled P-CPICH Level>:
These values are broadcasted to the UE. For configuration see:
–
–
–
–
"P-CPICH Enhanced > Signalized Level"
●
CPICH_RSCP: denotes the CPICH Received Signal Code Power, i.e. the received
signal power on one code, measured by the UE on the pilot bits of the P-CPICH.
The expected power of the first preamble is displayed at the GUI, see
2.2.16 Continuous Packet Connectivity (CPC)
By means of a CPC the UE is held online, so that the latencies occurred by a connec-
tion termination and reestablishment are avoided. In order to reduce the UE battery
consumption at a time when no user data are transferred, there is a bundle of features
