13.9.3 Ladder
The appliance has a ladder rack to store a Bailey 6m Green Fibreglass Extension Ladder. The
ladder is secured using a pneumatic actuator and a spring bolt. The actuator works on air
pressure from the vehicle’s accessory air tank. To ensure there is enough air pressure to operate
the system, the vehicle engine should be running. Removing and stowing the ladder is a multi-
person procedure.
To remove the Ladder:
1. With the vehicle engine running turn the ladder actuator to the release position.
2. Push the ladder forwards to take the weight off the Slide Spring Bolt.
3. Release the Slide Spring Bolt.
4. Guide the ladder down and out of the ladder rack.
5. When the ladder is nearly free of the ladder rack, have an additional operator assist with
supporting the ladder as it clears the ladder rack. i.e. one person at either end of the
ladder.
6. With enough people to support the ladder, lower the ladder safely to the ground.
7. To stow the ladder, reverse the above procedure.
