13.5 Air Compressor 

The Heavy Attack appliance has a Rotocomp Air Compressor that is driven by the Hatz diesel 
motor.  It provides compressed air to run the CAFS and the four air outlets around the body of the 
appliance.  The air outlets have isolation valves located on top of the NS Hose Reel to isolate 
individual outlets in the event of an air leak.  The air system has a small air reservoir tank. 

To use the compressed air outlets: 

1. 

Start the Pump Engine.  Refer to section 13.2.6 Page 59.  

2. 

Set the CAFS Compressor switch to the RUN position. 

3. 

Adjust the Pump Engine RPM to suit the application. 

4. 

Ensure the Isolation Valves, located above the NS Hose Reel, are open.  These should 
be left in the open position and only closed if a leak is detected. 

5. 

Connect the air-line/air tool to an outlet and open the valve just behind the fitting.
