EDDYSENSOR Operating Manual
How to establish
the filter settings
• Press the Gain switch for approx. 1 second and release to select the
first filter setting when the display initially shows
F
(see diagram below)
• To select the filter range, i.e.
FA
for 1 - 60 m/min or
Fb
for 30 - 1000 m/
min, press – or +.
• After several seconds if the switch has not been touched, the display
returns to the original gain mode
No testing can be carried out while the filters are being set.
The frequencies for the high pass and low pass filters are determined
from the speed range and coil type (see filter tables below). The precise
setting can be determined from the filter table. Ideally, the filter settings
should be established using a standard defect and test bench. The settings
should be made so that any interference signals are suppressed while the
defect signal itself remains undistorted. For optimum results the band pass
should be as wide as possible but as narrow as necessary.
To give a reasonable bandwidth we recommend:
High pass filter
V
Line
/ 4
Low pass filter
V
Line
x 2
Look in the
filter table
for the
speed
under the required probe type and
read off the
setting
required for the filter.
The filter settings, like the gain, are permanently stored in the module after
being set up.
