Channel Status display
The Channel Status block is decoded into the various basic indications on the second
and third rows of the DATA panel.
The 'PRO' and 'CONS' LEDs indicate professional or consumer format Channel Status
respectively. Below these LEDs are the 'CRC ERROR' and 'COPY PRO' indicators.
Note that only a professional status can indicate a CRC error since the consumer
status has no CRC, and only a consumer status can indicate Copy Prohibition since
no protection mechanism exists in the professional status.
Either '15/50'µs emphasis or 'J17' emphasis can be indicated, and the channel mode
can be shown as 'STEREO', '2-CHANNEL', or 'MONO'. Note that stereo consumer
signals are indicated as '2-CHANNEL', since this is the actual definition of the mode
in the interface standard.
The 'A
gg
B' indicator shows that the A and B sub-frames carry differing Channel Status.
This is unusual, but is 'legal' in certain circumstances, most often when different
alphanumeric labels are included in a professional status, or when channel numbers
are used in a consumer status.
