The GEN2 PRS (pseudo-random-sequence) function is a white-noise-like signal, which
can also be used as the identifiable test-pattern in Channel Check mode, as described
in section 6.4.9, 6.5.
To return to the `Generator' level of the menu system, press [EXIT].
6.4.4.
Audio Parameters (menu 4.4.)
The Audio Parameters sub-menu controls the amplitude, frequency, word-length and
ON/OFF state of the Generator/Editor.
The display format is:
Ù
A&B:ON -14dB
Wrd:24b 1000Hz
The flashing arrow symbol indicates which parameter is selected for adjustment, and
this selection is cycled using the [ENTER/NEXT] key. The [<] and [>] keys are used
to adjust the selected parameter by stepping through the available settings.
The 'A&B' legend shows that both sub-frames (channels) are subject to adjustment,
since in GEN1 mode each sub-frame could contain different audio parameters if the
Edit Mode were set to SPLIT. In that case, the 'A&B' indicator would be replaced by
'ChA' or 'ChB' according to the setting of the [CHAN] key.
The word-length can generally be adjusted from 12 to 24 bits. The DSA-1 Generator
is undithered, but is rounded and truncated to the selected word-length.
Where a function's peak-sample amplitude is adjustable, this is possible between
0dBFS and -120dBFS. 1dBFS steps are provided down to -16dBFS in order to cater
for a range of standard line-up levels. Note that amplitude cannot be adjusted for the
GEN1 Jtest function, nor for GEN2 functions.
Where a function's frequency is adjustable, this is possible between fs/192 and fs/2
(e.g. 250Hz to 24kHz at fs = 48kHz) in arbitrary steps. There is also a DC setting
where the positive peak amplitude sample is output continuously. Note that frequency
is not adjustable for GEN1 Pulse or Jtest functions, nor for GEN2 functions.
The [EDIT/CLEAR] key can be used to set the default value of the currently-selected
parameter, which are OFF, 16-bit, -14dBFS and 1kHz. -14dBFS is chosen because it
is a common line-up level, being +4dBu in systems where +18dBu=0dBFS.
Depending on which generator and function are selected, some of the Audio
Parameters settings may be fixed or unavailable. In this case, the flashing arrow
cannot be moved to that setting, and the setting may be blanked out. In particular,
