Care &Maintenance/Sustainment
It is important to provide the correctpreventative maintenance/sustainment in order to
ensure the best possible performance and reliability of the PEEBD.The following
maintenance procedures should be performed routinely after each use of the equipment.
1.
After in-water training in either Salt or Chlorinated Water, the PEEBDshallbe
cleaned, inspected, and prepared for the next use, or for storage.
2.
As soon as possible after training, the PEEBD should besoaked thoroughly for
at least thirty minutes in warm freshwater to loosen and dissolve salt (if used in salt
water) and/or mineral deposits. Before soaking, remove protective cover from the 1
st
Stage and 2
nd
Stage Regulator and turn the Control Knobto the “ON” position to
pressurize the system. This will prevent the entrance of moisture into the system
through the 2
nd
Stage Regulator. Do not immerse the PEEBD device or spray with
water when the Control Knob in the “OFF” position.
3.
After the system has been properly soaked, it is important to rinse the 1
st
Stage
Regulator, the 2
nd
Stage Regulator mouthpiece, and the openings in the 2
nd
Stage
Regulator front cover with a slightly pressurized stream of fresh water. This will remove
anysalt and mineral deposits that were loosened during soaking.
4.
When it has been soaked and rinsed, wipe the system as dry as possible with a
clean towel and gently shake the 1st and 2
nd
Stage Regulators to dislodge any water
remaining inside the system. Replacethe protectivecovers overs on the 1
st
and 2
nd
Stage
Regulators.
5.
If the PEEBD is to be stored for an extended period of time, it should be stored
completely empty, with the Control Knob turned completely off to prevent the entrance of
moisture into the system.
6.
Store the completely dry PEEBD, in a clean equipment box or sealed inside an
optional water-proof storage bag Part No. PEEBD00700. Whenpossible, avoid storing
the PEEBD where it may be exposed to extreme heat. Prolonged exposure to extreme
heat, ozone, chlorine, and ultraviolet rays can cause premature degradation of rubber
parts and components. Ensure the “NONRFI” tag is attached to the system.
7.
When transporting the PEEBD, take the necessary precautions to ensure it is
surrounded by a protective cushion to prevent undue shock or impact. It is
recommended the PEEBD be transported in an empty condition.
8.
Do not use any type of solvent or petroleum-based substances to clean or
lubricate any part of the regulator. Do not expose the 2
nd
Stage Regulator to aerosol
spray, as some aerosol propellants degrade rubber and plastic parts
