Climate control system
Your Porsche factory installed climate control
system combines ventilation, heating, defrost-
ing/defogging and air conditioning for year-
round driving comfort.
WARNING
• Familiarize yourself thoroughly with the
proper use and function of the climate
control system.
• For safe driving it is extremely important
that you follow the operating instruc-
tions in this manual. If in doubt, consult
your Porsche dealer.
• Maximum heating output and fast de-
frosting can be obtained only after the
engine has reached operating tempe-
rature.
Fresh air ventilation can be obtained by turn-
ing the ignition key to position " 2 " and by se-
lecting a fan speed.
The heater works only when the engine is
running.
The air conditioner works only when the en-
gine is running. The higher the engine rpm,
the more intensive the cooling effect. Air from
inside the car is drawn through the evaporator
for cooling and then reenters the car interior
through the air outlets.
The air conditioner compressor can be
operated at any air distribution setting by
pressing the AC switch in the center con-
sole.
With the activated compressor, the engine
runs at increased idle speed.
Operating hints
When driving off it is not necessary to set the
temperature control lever to a higher tempe-
rature, because the automatic temperature
regulator guarantees maximum heating-up
until the selected interior temperature has
been reached.
To obtain maximum cooling, move tempera-
ture control lever to the extreme left and turn
the fan control knob to speed 4.
In damp weather it is recommended to switch
on the air conditioner, even if the outside tem-
perature is low. This dehumidifies the air and
prevents the windshield from fogging up.
The air conditioner can only be operated when
the temperature is above 32° F/0° C.
WARNING
Should uncooled air flow from the air out-
lets, switch the system off. Have your Por-
sche dealer locate and correct the prob-
lem. He has qualified personnel and the
necessary equipment.
Maintenance
The air conditioner should be switched on
briefly at least twice a month. Periodic ope-
ration of the air conditioner is necessary to
lubricate the movable parts of the air condi-
tioner compressor and the expansion valve.
This is especially important during the cold
season when the air conditioner is not used.
The air conditioner can only be operated when
the temperature is above 32° F/0° C. The
condenser should be checked periodically for
cleanliness. If clogged with dirt or insects, the
condenser should be washed down with water.
After the winter months and before extended
summer usage, the air conditioner should be
checked and, if necessary, serviced by your
Porsche dealer.
Payload reduction
The weight of the air conditioner installation
reduces the vehicle's capacity weight. For
