3.1.1 Notes on Handling the Batteries
In order to avoid damages to the battery due to complete battery discharge, the instrument will also cut
off after a certain period of time, unless the massage is restarted by turning up
intensity control <6> . In
the same way, the instrument will cut off, if, the intensity control <6> is not turned down to zero after
the time has elapsed. An acoustic signal is audible with the cut-off.
When battery capacity is low during operation, the 2-step warning system is activated:
• Step 1 : The yellow LED on the charge display <11> flashes.
• Step 2 : An audible signal is issued and the instrument shuts down automatically to avoid complete
discharging of the battery.
If the battery capacity is very low when the device is switched on, the yellow LED on the charge display
<11> flashes. In this case, charge the battery as described in How to Charge the Batteries on page 8. You
can continue using the unit in mains operation while the battery is charged.
NOTICE
If the unit is not used for a long period of time, please charge the battery once a month. This
will help to avoid complete discharge.
3.2 Preparations and Start-Up
3.2.1 Mains Operation
How to Start up the Instrument in Mains Mode
(1) Ensure that mains voltage is within the admissible range (refer to Technical Data on page 17 for more
information).
(2) Ensure that the instrument is switched off.
(3) Plug the supplied mains cable (Ref.-No. 00777) into the mains module <1> on the rear side of the
instrument and connect it to a power line outlet.
(4) Switch on the power with mains switch on the mains module <1> . A symbol lights up on the dis-
play of the timer <5> . The instrument is in stand-by mode.
(5) Switch on the instrument by pressing the massage key <2> . All displays light up; an automatic self-
test routine is performed by the instrument.
The instrument is ready for use and the default settings are displayed.

It is recommended to use a power surge protector with HIVAMAT

instrument.
