body surface without lifting or stopping. Distinguish between therapy movement and leading
movement: The therapy movement (to the centre of the body) has to be performed with the
appropriate pressure, the leading movement (back from the centre of the body) without pres-
sure.
When treating with low frequencies (10 ... 40 Hz), perform the therapy movement especially
slow. The leading movement may be quicker.
After switching to a new therapy phase, it might be necessary to re-adjust the intensity to
reach the same strength of oscillation!
4.2 Massage Frequency
Depending on the frequency range selected, various effects ensue in the tissue receiving the massage.
They can be described as follows:
•
High frequency
(approximately 80 ... 200 Hz): High frequencies are most effective for local areas
near the surface.
•
Medium frequency
(approximately 25 ... 80 Hz): Medium and low frequencies are effective for larger
areas and deeper tissue.
•
Low frequency
(approximately 5 ... 25 Hz): Low frequencies have the deepest effect and are usually
applied to conclude the massage.
4.3 Massage Duration
Basically, massage with HIVAMAT
®
200 consists of several sequences. The individual duration of a massage
depends on the state of the tissue.
4.4 Instrument Modes
The instrument mode is the ratio of pulse time (of an individual pulse) to interval time (between pulses).
The following modes can be selected:
