Introduction
I
NTRODUCTION
The
Packard Bell Smart TV32
is a digital entertainment centre,
combining a high definition (HDMI compatible) LCD screen with
audio and video functions normally found in DVD player/recorders
or PVRs (powered by
Windows XP Media Center 2005
). This
provides a television, a DVD player, an PVR recorder, music player,
photo viewer, radio and a fully-featured computer, all in a single
unit.
This guide covers the interface and controls used by the
Packard Bell
Smart TV32
, from the remote control to the Media Center interface
that provides access to the multimedia functions. The last section of
this guide provides information about the Windows XP interface that
provides extra flexibility for tasks that require a computer interface,
such as browsing the Internet, writing e-mails or playing games.
Remote Control
The remote control is a powerful interface tool that allows you to
control the
Packard Bell Smart TV32
from a distance, even when
using the Windows XP interface (see below). It can replace a mouse
and control the windows cursor by using it’s internal gyroscope that
senses how the remote control is moved.
The remote control may even be programmed with new commands
to allow you to control a set-top box or DVD player from a single
device.
Keyboard and Mouse
If you need to enter large amounts of text, or need precise control of
the cursor, the remote control may not meet your needs. Instead,
you may use the wireless keyboard and mouse for quick text entry
and cursor control.
Interface
The
Packard Bell Smart TV32
uses the
Microsoft Windows XP Media
Center 2005
operating system to provide a full multimedia and TV
experience. You may also leave the Media Center interface and use
the Smart TV32 as a computer, installing and using Windows XP-
compatible applications.
The
Windows Media Center
section of the guide explains how to
watch and record television on the Smart TV32, and also how to
acces the other sections, including the DVD player, music library and
photo album.
The last section of this guide addresses common computer tasks,
including how to access additional information on the Smart TV32
from the Windows XP interface (i.e.
Packard Bell InfoCentre
) and
information on troubleshooting and recovery tools.
