The remote control is a powerful interface tool that allows you to
control the
Packard Bell Smart TV32
from a distance, even when
using the Windows XP interface thanks to the gyroscopic cursor
control (see
Using the Remote Control to control the cursor
, below).
The remote control may even be programmed with new commands
to allow you to control a set-top box or DVD player from a single
device.
Prepare the Remote Control
The remote control and batteries are individually packed. Before you
can use the remote control please insert the batteries:
1. Remove the battery cover on the remote control, insert the bat-
teries (with the correct orientation) and replace the cover. The
remote control has an effective range of about 10 metres.

Using the Remote Control to
control the cursor
The remote control can be used to
control the cursor on the screen, in
much the same way as a mouse.
Hold the remote control flat, with the
buttons facing up and the front towards
the Smart TV32.
Movement
Hold the
Motion Gyration
button (pref-
erably with your thumb) and slowly
turn your wrist to the left or right, also
turning the remote control, but keeping it flat. The cursor should
also move to the left and right, following your wrist’s movements.
With a similar movement. twist your wrist up or down to move the
cursor up or down. Do not move your lower arm.
Clicking
Release the
Motion Gyration
button before attempting to click on an
icon or button. This allows the cursor to stay in place while you
reposition your thumb. Press either the right- or left-click buttons (on
either side of the
Motion Gyration
button) to perform a right- or left-
click.
Double-click on the Motion Gyration button to use the cursor
control without continuously pressing the button. To return
the remote control to normal operation click once on the
Motion Gyration button (the gyroscopic control will also turn
off if the remote control is inactive for two minutes.)
The Smart TV32 may not enter a power-saving mode if the
gyroscopic control is active.
