5.0 “AUTOMATOR”
This chapter describes the details of the AirSTAR CFPP/CPPP Automator.
5.1 INTRODUCTION
Because the CFPP and CPPP Head are self-containing, independent units,
already equipped with everything required for the test (e.g. built in sample
detection, sample temperature measurement, vacuum pump for cfpp, lift
mechanism for cppp, all electronics and power supply),
the Heads do not necessarily have to be combined with the AirSTAR ColdBlock
cooling unit, but can also operate independently on existing cooling baths that
are used for manual Cloud & Pour Point / Cold Filter Plugging Point tests.
The AirSTAR CFPP/CPPP Automator is designed for exactly that purpose; to
automate the manual test on the existing manual cooling bath.
NOTE: the only required manual interference is to take the Head from the bath
jacket and insert it in the next (lower temperature) bath jacket when the
sample has reached a certain temperature. An alarm will sound to indicate this.
5.2 SETUP
5.2.1 Wireless network
In order to make the iLabCB application on the iPad communicate with the
CFPP/CPPP Head, both the iPad and the Head must be connected to the same
local wireless network that the router sends out.
NOTE: the wireless network is just a local network and does not interfere nor
connect with a laboratory or external internet network.
In case of an issue, the Head can be reset by press+hold the button on top until
the light becomes red, then release and within one second again one short
press. This will reset the default “look for” network name to “bath”. The
network name of the router must be to “bath” too. In order to ensure the
