3.2 CLEANING CFPP HEAD
Note and disclaimer: In order to do a proper cleaning according to the ASTM
D6371 method, the filter unit should be dismantled and all filter unit pieces
should be washed.
For cleaning and drying the pipette and thermometer, AirSTAR CFPP offers a
convenient procedure using the wireless Cleaning-Docking Station.
Preparing the Cleaning-Docking Station:
fill the cleaning beaker with a cleaning solvent such as Heptane. Put the
cleaning beaker in the Cleaning-Docking Station.
After a CFPP test is finished, the light in CFPP Head will blink orange, and on the
iLad app the message “Not clean” appears.
Cleaning procedure:
1. Take the CFPP Head out of the ColdBlock. (The iLab app will now say “No
Head”. Not to worry, this simply indicates that the ColdBlock notices that the
CFPP Head is not in place. The program settings for the current test are still
saved and active locally in the CFPP Head.)
2. Remove the test jar (and clean it manually), then put the CFPP Head in the
Cleaning-Docking station. If executed correctly, the filter unit is now fully
submerged in the cleaning solvent.
3. To start the cleaning cycle, press the (only) little button on top of CFPP
Head.
4. By default, 5 cleaning aspirations are carried out. In the Methods Menu, the
amount of cleaning aspirations can be changed.
After the cleaning cycle is finished, the light in CFPP Head will blink again, now
indicating that a drying cycle is required.
