Perfect Pick® Cortex™ Operator Manual

2.4. Emergency Stops (E-stops)

For operator safety, the Cortex system incorporates Emergency-Stop (E-stop)
switches, as well as a pull cord to stop the machine in the event of an
emergency. There is an E-Stop located on the OPEX Scan Tunnel, and one on
the Perfect Pick at the Operator Station. Details regarding the Perfect Pick E-
stop can be found in the Perfect Pick Operator Manual.

If you hit the Scan Tunnel red e-stop button, the conveyor system will stop. You
must disengage the e-stop for the Cortex system to be able to continue
running. Once you have disengaged the e-stop, you must hit the reset button
and then the Start button on the main enclosure for the conveyor to start.

Note that the machine will still remember container positions during an E-stop.

There is also a pull cord attached to the emergency stop which runs from the e-
stop button to zone one. Pulling this long, tensioned cable is the same as
pressing the e-stop button. Pushing any E-stop button or pulling the E-stop
cable cuts power to the conveyors.

The exact placement of the body of this device depends on the site. Usually, it
is mounted to the OPEX scan tunnel. The pull-cord runs the length of the work
station, just below the side of the conveyor area.
