4-5 Withdrawing the scope unit
Remove your finger from the [ANGLE] joystick and carefully observe as you withdraw the scope
unit.

Troubleshooting when the hook is caught
Protrude the hook assembly from the channel of optical adapter and turn the hook assembly
to unhitch the hook. If withdrawal is still impossible jettison the hook from the spring shaft
according to the following procedure.
When jettisoning the hook the scope unit may be damaged, accordingly jet-
tisoning the hook should only be done as a last resort to dislodge a hook that
is caught. Any damage caused by jettisoning the hook is not covered under
warranty and repairs are the responsibility of the owner.
Firmly tighten the chuck screw of the channel port to securely fix the hook assembly.
After keeping the insertion tube and the channel port straight, pull the channel port
slowly and forcefully.
The hook will fall off the spring shaft.
Inspection part
After the hook has been jettisoned, do not retract the distal end of the spring shaft
into the channel. Gently withdraw the scope unit, with the spring shaft distal end
visible within the field of view.
When the hook breaks at the hook slits and falls off, a part of the broken hook
remains attached to the spring shaft. Remove the remaining part by turning the
spring shaft in the opposite to the direction the hook was screwed onto the spring
shaft.
As mentioned in “3-11 Replacing the hook” (page 37), grip the distal end of the
spring shaft with a pair of pliers. Taking care not to scratch the spring shaft’s screw
thread, lightly grip the remains of the hook with another pair of pliers and turn. The
remaining part can be easily removed.
