A flash adapter (or phone data cable) connected to a PC with Phoenix service software is required.
Steps
1. Place the phone in the flash adapter or connect data cable to phone.
2. Start
Phoenix
service software.
3. Choose File
→
Scan Product.
4. From the Mode drop-down menu, set mode to Local.
5. Choose Testing
→
Self Tests.
6. In the Self Tests window check the following NFC related tests:
•
ST_NFC_TEST
• ST_NFC_ANTENNA_TEST
7. To run the tests, click Start.

Results
ST_NFC_TEST
This test verifies the interface between the NFC ASIC and phone BB including I2C, IRQ and FW_RESET.
ST_NFC_ANTENNA_TEST
This test detects a defective or missing component or short circuits on the matching circuit. Also broken
antenna connection and broken antenna are detected.
If the self test returns FAIL, it must be retested with a new B-cover. If the test still fails, check the antenna
connection pins (see the Figure:

troubleshooting (page 3–41 ) . If they are OK, the engine PWB must be changed.
Near Field Communication tests in Phoenix
Prerequisites
SWP functionality is tested with the Single Wire test. An SWP enabled SIM card is required for this test.
NFC ASIC contains firmware. The firmware can be updated after the phone has been manufactured. If the
ASIC’s manufacturer releases new firmware, it will be contained in the phone software. The NFC ASIC firmware
must be upgraded every time the phone has been serviced, irrespective of the service done. The upgrading
is done in the Near Field Communication test window with the Upgrade Firmware test.
Steps
1. Place the phone in the flash adapter or connect data cable to phone.
2. Start
Phoenix service software.
