Proximity tuning
Prerequisites
Note:
Tuning must be done if either the mechanics part related to proximity or the DiPro sensor
itself is changed.
The following equipment is needed for proximity tuning:
•
RM-779 device
•
PC with Phoenix service software
•
White reflector. If the preferred Kodak 90% reflector is not available, use white paper.
Steps
1. Start
Phoenix
service software and connect the RM-779 device to the PC.
2. Set the phone to Local mode with
Phoenix
.
3. Choose Testing —> Proximity Sensor Test.
4. Select Continuous Reading and click Read.
5. Place the reflector above the proximity sensor. Distance from the front window ~ 6 cm.
6. Click Calibrate.
7. Test the sensor by moving the reflector nearer and further from the sensor. The Sensor state should be
'ON' when the reflector is near and 'OFF' when further.
Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) technical description and troubleshooting
Context
RM-779 uses DiPro sensor as an Ambient Light Sensor (ALS). Ambient light information is used for illumination
control of the phone. When the ambient light level is low the display backlight is dimmed, and when the
ambient light level is high the display is brightened.
