3. REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
SAFETY STOPS MUST BE ENGAGED
before working beneath the
platform or in the engine compartment or for maintenance/repair activities that
involve removing or disconnecting platform lift system hydraulic components.
Raise platform until frame rollers are foward of safety stops, then push
operation knobs in and lower platform so frame rollers rest against safety
stops. See figure 2-1-1. If the platform were to fall, it will cause serious injury
or death.
Perform lockout/tagout procedures before adjusting, lubricating,
cleaning or otherwise servicing. Failure to do so could result in unexpected startup and
could cause serious injury or death.
3.1 GENERAL
Removal and installation of components and assemblies from the unit are
generally not difficult and no special tools are required. All fastenings are standard
SAE. Some components will require suitable hoists or slings for removal and
installation.
The following procedures are given only as a guide and do not in any way restrict
technicians from developing their own procedures. No procedures are given where
the type of work required is obvious. Assembly is normally done in reverse order of
disassembly unless a special procedure is required.
3.2 PLATFORM REMOVAL
1.
Raise platform sufficiently for access to attach pins.
2. Disconnect electrical cable from box at bottom left side of platform.
3. Position a suitable hoist under platform.
4. Remove single bolts securing each rear pin retaining plate to saddleblock lugs
at rear of platform. Using hoist positioned in step (3), lift platform to relieve
strain on pins. Drive pins with retainers attached out of platform lugs and upper
scissor ears.
5. Using hoist, move platform forward to slide upper scissor cam rollers from
forward platform channels.
Platform installation is the reverse of removal.
3.3 SCISSORS REMOVAL
1. Remove platform as described above.
2. Disconnect hydraulic hoses at lift cylinder check valve assembly. Plug any
open hydraulic lines and ports.
3. Disconnect electric cable at junction box located on left side over rear axle. Tag
leads to identify at reinstallation.
