3 REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
4. Remove clamp securing lift cylinder hydraulic hoses to scissor. Unsnap hose
carrier from point of attachment to scissor. Pull hose carrier and hose clear.
5. Remove single bolts securing each rear pin retaining plate to saddle block lugs
at rear of chassis. Using hoist, lift platform to relieve strain on pins. Drive pins
(with retainers attached) out of chassis lugs and lower scissor ears.
6. Using hoist, move platform forward to slide lower scissor cam rollers from
forward chassis channels.
Scissor installation is the reverse of removal.
3.4 ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
The engine and transmission assembly is large and heavy. To
prevent it from falling on you, use proper slings and hoists for removal and
installation.
3.4.1 Removal
1. Chock wheels. Start engine.
2. Raise platform sufficiently to provide lift clearance during engine removal.
Observe front scissors reinforcement plates as a possible obstruction.
3. Shut off engine.
4. Using hoists, forklifts, or other suitable lifting equipment, provide support
at both the front and rear of the lift platform.
5. Remove engine cover.
6. Disconnect battery.
7. Determine if any option item not associated with engine pack has been
allowed to obstruct engine removal path. This includes both factory
installed options and options or modifications made by the using
organization.
8. Disconnect two driveshaft U-bolts and remove driveshaft.
9. Disconnect parking brake cable and move clear of engine frame.
10. Using a suitable container to prevent spillage, disconnect the fuel lines
and plug them to prevent leaking. Mark for identification if necessary.
11. Disconnect transmission shift cable and move clear of engine frame.
Mark for identification if necessary.
12. Disconnect throttle cable and move clear of engine frame. Mark for
identification if necessary.
13. Close off hydraulic tank valves. Using a suitable container, disconnect
one hydraulic line from hydraulic pump and two from the relief valve
body. Mark lines for identification if necessary. Cap all ends of hoses
and fittings.
NOTICE!
Perkins engine only: The hydraulic pump must be moved to prevent
interference. Disconnect the pump bracket from the tension arm, allowing the
pump to hang free from the bracket bolt. Make sure that all components will
clear vehicle chassis frame when engine frame is lifted out. Set aside V-belt.
14. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold. Disconnect
