TML-704H Maintenance Lift Manual No. 310547
4 REPAIRS
• Never allow brake system rubber parts to come in contact with gasoline,
diesel fuel, or any type of cleaner other than an approved brake cleaner.
Wash hands before handling brake components.
• Brake linings that contact oil or grease can become contaminated, lose
braking friction and then must be discarded.
Brake Pedal Linkage Adjustment
1. Adjust the brake pedal per the procedure on figure 5.
For brake booter assembly adjustment see chapter 4.
Rear Drum Brakes
1. Start engine.
2. Ensuring that there is sufficient space around the lift, engage Reverse,
and back up at normal speed. Step on the brake firmly until the unit
stops.
3. Repeat this procedure 2 or 3 times.
Do not allow linings to drag on drum or they will heat up and
lock. The linings will be charred and rendered useless, resulting in brake
failure.
4.3.12 Handbrake (Parking Brake) Adjustment
Adjustment of the handbrake is made by turning the knurled handle on the
Orscheln lever until the desired tension is achieved.
1. Locate the setscrew in the Orscheln handle.
2. Remove the setscrew completely to free the knurled handle.
3. Adjust as required, then replace the setscrew.
4.3.13 V-Belt Adjustment
All V-belts should be adjusted to obtain approximately 1/2 inch deflection (for
an applied force of approximately 10 lbs.) at the center of the longest belt
span. Also refer to the engine manual.
4.3.14 Engine Speed Adjustments
NOTICE!
Adjustment of engine speeds should only be attempted by
competent maintenance personnel. A reliable tachometer with a range of
0-3000 RPM will be required.
Engine speed is adjusted at the Wollard factory and under normal conditions
should not be tampered with. If you are installing a new throttle cable, then
you will need the following instructions.
1. Start engine and allow to warm up for about 5 minutes. Operate throttle
2 or 3 times.
2. Adjust idle speed to 850-900 RPM and lock in position.
3. Loosen the two jam nuts holding the throttle cable to bracket on the engine.
