SGN and Crush Strength together determine spread width.
General Rules:
A small product with low crush strength will have limited spread width capabili es. Spinner RPM must remain lower to keep
from pulverizing the so product, limi ng your overall spread width. Addi onally, a smaller product has less mass than that of a
larger product, and in this case is another limi ng factor for overall spread width.
A small product with high crush strength will have limited spread width capabili es. While spinner RPM can be increased with
li le worry of pulverizing the product, a smaller product has less mass than that of a larger product, which limits how far the
product will carry in the spread pa ern.
A large product with low crush strength will have limited spread width capabili es. While a larger product with more mass will
carry farther, spinner RPM must remain lower to keep from pulverizing the so product, limi ng the overall spread width.
A large product with high crush strength has minimal spread width limita ons. Spinner RPM can be increased with li le worry
of pulverizing the product. Addi onally, a large product has more mass than that of a smaller product, allowing the product to
carry farther, resul ng in a wider spread width.

IMPORTANT!
Always check crush strength prior to selecting spinner speed. Pan testing should ALWAYS be
performed on any new or different material to determine actual spread width.
Verify granules are not pulverized by looking in the three center vials following a pan test
before increasing spinner speed.
