Connecting to an Ethernet network
The Netopia ISDN Router suppor ts an Ethernet connection to its AUI
or EtherWave por ts. The Router’s autosensing feature eliminates
the need for a switch; connection to the AUI or EtherWave por ts is
automatically detected and the connected por t is used.
You can connect several types of Ethernet networks you can connect
to the Netopia ISDN Router. Most are distinguished by the type of
cable they use. The table below displays some impor tant attributes
of four types of Ethernet.
Caution!
Do
not connect to both the AUI and EtherWave por ts. Connect to
either the AUI por t or to the EtherWave por ts. Connecting to both
the AUI and EtherWave por ts will result in communications errors on
the networks connected to these por ts.
