1. Position the trolley to the drive cluster end of the
beam - because of beam rise toward center.
Measure the distance from the top of the trolley
to the bin floor (See Fig. 46). Write this distance
down, the augers will need to be 3” shorter than
that measurement.
2. Assemble the auger while its laying on the floor.
Clean the top portion of the auger shaft with a wire
brush or emery cloth.
Slide a flipper assembly onto the top end of the
auger shaft (the heads of the carriage bolts must
be on the grain side of the auger rotation as shown
in Fig. 47). Secure the flippers approximately 1”
above the end of the auger flighting.
3. Slide a 1” locking collar and a 1” flange bearing
upside down onto the end of the auger shaft. Then
slide another flange bearing and locking collar right
side up onto the shaft.
4. Install the 10” pulley, with pin hole up, onto the shaft
and secure the pulley using a 5/16 x 2” roll pin (to
prevent damaging the pulley with the hammer, use
a long punch or similar tool to install the roll pin).
Slide the upper locking collar and flange bearing
up against the pulley. Lock the bearing into place
with the locking collar.
Rotate the locking collar until the recess fits over
the external cam on the bearing. Lock the collar by
tapping with a punch against the side of the hole in
the collar, tap in the direction of auger shaft rota-
tion. After the collar is tight, tighten the set screw
against the shaft.
5. Measure from the bottom of the upper flange bear-
ing housing, down to the bottom of the auger.
Use
the same measurement previously taken from
the top of the trolley to the bin floor.
Refer to Figure 3A (Page13) for data to shorten
the auger, if needed.
Only cut the bottom of the
auger (flight end) -
Do Not
cut the top!
Augers
can be torch cut.
IMPORTANT
If the auger has to be cut, it will be necessary to
re-weld
the end of flighting to the auger shaft. See
Figure 47.

Previous Measurement from Top of Trolley to Bin Floor
Cut Auger 3” Shorter than the “Trolley to Bin Floor Length.”
Cut all Augers to the Same Length.
If Auger is Cut, Re-weld the end of
the Flighting to the Shaft.
Generally, three different welds
on the bottom and along the first pitch
of the flighting is sufficient.
